Figeac -> Espagnac-Sainte-Eulalie

Meaning the sequel, but also applies to the amazing gîte we landed in today after a rude reminder that the chemin demands its tribute.

The first part is all about / along the Célé river valley. Its shallow, languorous flow teased us in Figeac while we staked out our simple hotel and a bistro meal. We passed on the fish, having seen some questionable harvesting.

So, on to the trail… ooof. Any illusions that we were older, wiser & fitter were soon dispelled (well, older, yes). The first third was supposedly familiar terrain until the regular route diverges from this Célé variant thing… sheepishly, neither of us recognized much.
Fortunately, there were a some curious fellow travellers who helped pass the time comparing notes and approving of our Canadian-ness.
Between winces and wheezes, the countryside and lodgings became increasingly picturesque, as we funnelled into a tunnel of green.

And final deliverance to an ancient priory, now showing mercy upon weary pilgrims by providing beer.

An upgraded suite avec jacuzzi and 5 course bio supper in this special spot now brings us to an early night and surely some restoration.
Docile beasts that we’ve become 🐑, we avoid mentioning that this was just the warm up 😟
