Montréal-du-Gers -> Éauze

There were clouds of shame accompanying today’s overcast skies… we’d somehow run out of € and, of course, this rustic outpost is beyond electronic or digital options. Our hostess was understanding, offering to meet us in Éauze at a precise time and location to collect. This added some haste to our steps.

A league’s worth of craggy vineyards steered us to a re-purposed railway (a.k.a. chemin de fer ) route for a glorious, canopied 10k, interrupted only by the occasional wheeled human and crunch of dried acorns underfoot.
Oh, and, a bit of electro-therapy ⚡ – those mischievous horses must have chewed up the fence’s warning sign! 🐴💥👀
Éauze puts the ‘mid’ in medieval, but had a bank machine and we settled our debts (Lidscoves always do).
We had 2 days now to take in the millennium-old timber frame houses, closed storefronts, a commanding yet cracking church (we had a ‘cat’echism), leaf-strewn boulevards and street art.

We ate well, of course (foie gras, duck many ways, truffle tagliatelle, harmonious charcuterie) above a familiar pleading gaze. 🐶✨
