Cahors, Toulouse

We’re at a bit of a loss, now, having to forage and dawdle. Like when you were a kid and spun round & round then stopped – the world swirls and catches up in disorienting fashion. Psychic nystagmus.

We were in old Cahors, seeking a tranquil evening, when ushered to the side as a flurry of kids and adults ran by, clutching batons! Turns out, it’s the annual Ekiden… after a lifetime of athletics, this is the first we’d heard of this ‘marathon relay’ – how amazing for them to cruise, unfettered, through these historic streets. OK, later, they didn’t look like they were feeling so fortunate 😉 but wouldn’t share our planche!

The morning air was bracing, bringing steam off the Lot, as we traced it’s loop and admired it’s bridges.

But none, anywhere, can compare to the Valentré, with it’s lofty towers, cobbles, swallows and a wee devil. It’s also where the chemin exits Cahors… ah, but that’s another story.

road not (yet) taken

We passed our in-between hours with hanging basket inspiration, a chat (of course) and then railed off to Toulouse, amongst fragments of wonder and possibility.

À bientôt!
